Terms of use
In short: Yumta helps you track what you eat and weigh. Nutrition data can be wrong and portions are estimates, so use your own judgement. It isn't medical advice. Use the app fairly, and it's yours to use as long as you like.
1. These terms
These terms apply between you and Burak Özaslan, Maltepe, İstanbul, Türkiye (“we”, “us”), for the Yumta iOS app and its online services (together, “Yumta”). By creating an account or using Yumta, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
2. What Yumta is
Yumta is a calorie counter. It calculates a personal plan from your answers, lets you log meals by search, barcode, label scan, meal photo, typed description or quick add, and shows your day, your weight trend and the days you logged. Some features need an internet connection.
3. Who can use Yumta
You must be at least 16 years old. Yumta is meant for adults who want to manage their weight. It isn't designed for people with an eating disorder; if that applies to you, please talk to a doctor before counting calories.
4. Your account
You sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple ID and your iPhone secure; you're responsible for what happens in your account. Give us accurate information, because your plan is calculated from it. You can delete your account in the app at any time (You → Account → Delete account).
5. Free features and Premium
Logging by search, barcode, entering a label by hand and quick add is free. Each account gets 3 free photo logs. The AI features (meal photos after the free ones, label scans and Describe) are part of Premium, a subscription.
- Premium is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. The price, length and any trial are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- Fair use: AI features have usage limits to prevent misuse, for example a number of photos per day. The app tells you when you reach one.
- Premium isn't on sale yet. Before it is, the price, any free trial and how renewal works will be shown in the app before you buy, and added here.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
6. Nutrition data and estimates
Yumta's nutrition values come from food databases (USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts), from product labels scanned by users, and from foods you enter. These sources can contain errors, and products change. When AI helps, it only identifies foods and proposes portions; portions are estimates and are always shown so you can change them. Energy targets and goal dates are estimates based on standard formulas and your data; bodies differ.
Check values that matter to you against the pack or label. We work to keep the data accurate, but we can't guarantee that every value is correct.
7. Not medical advice
Yumta is not a medical device and doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. It doesn't replace advice from a doctor or dietitian. Talk to a doctor before changing your diet if you have a health condition, take medication that affects appetite or weight, have or have had an eating disorder, or are pregnant or breastfeeding (Yumta then plans to keep your weight steady). Yumta keeps safety limits on targets and pace, but they don't account for your full health picture.
8. AI features
Meal photos, label scans and Describe use an AI service to read your photo or text. The results are suggestions: check them before you log or save. Don't upload photos of other people or anything other than food and food labels.
9. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use Yumta against the law or the rights of others;
- enter false nutrition data on purpose, especially into shared foods;
- try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around security, rate limits or Premium;
- scrape, copy or resell Yumta's food database or use automated access;
- overload or disrupt our servers, or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows;
- try to make the AI features do something other than read food and labels.
We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these rules, after a warning where reasonable.
10. Foods you add
Foods you create stay private to you. When you scan a label for a product with a barcode and the values pass our checks, the product data (name, brand, nutrition values, serving size) becomes a shared food that other users can find. You allow us to use, correct and keep that product data in our food database, also after you delete your account. It never includes information about you.
11. Our rights
Yumta, its design, code, mascot and food database are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app while these terms apply. Food data from Open Food Facts is available under the Open Database License; data from USDA FoodData Central is in the public domain.
12. Availability and changes
We try to keep Yumta running, but it can be unavailable at times, for example for maintenance. We may change or remove features. If a change significantly affects a paid feature, we'll tell you in advance.
13. Ending
You can stop using Yumta and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms with reasonable notice, or immediately for serious breaches. Sections 6, 7, 10, 11 and 14 continue to apply afterwards.
14. Liability
We're liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where mandatory law (such as product liability law) says so. For slight negligence we're liable only for breaches of essential obligations, limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of service. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we're not liable. This doesn't limit your statutory rights as a consumer.
15. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Yumta or its support. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies to the app; if it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply where the law allows. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims there. We're not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for new features or legal changes. We'll tell you in the app about important changes before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Yumta and delete your account.
